1 Down! 9 to go!!

OK I have been very slack at posting here, mainly because I haven't got anything done. It's not that I'm not trying, It's just that I never seem to finish a job. Take the bedroom for instance, I'll get it 90% done and then something else needs doing and in the meantime everything descends slowly back into chaos. I wish that I could afford fitted wardrobes.
Ine task I have finished though. On the 25th November my design 'Rosa' is published in Stitch - the Embroiderer's Guild Magazine. It has been a lot of work but I am really pleased and hope that it will be popular and help raise the profile of the business.

Project Ylva

So, I asked Vicki to add to her long list of things to do and create a design I got in my head...so she did - good girl as she is:)

Now, I have a lack of funds, so I have to use what I have, and what I have is cream and white Pearl threads, and fabric ranging from a sparkling white Belfast Linen 32count to an oliveish linen and an unbleached dark linen. I am posting the pics here so Vicki can help me decide which fabric is best with the threads...the colors will be red when the design is published, but as it is I am just working on the design to see if anything needs to be changed.So, here goes the pictures - Vicki, HELP!!! :)

I also have a pic of the latest update on my February variegated project...after unpicking and redoing the middle, I have taken the gutsy decision to cut the threads, and now I have to do the stitches on either side of the cut threads:) Yey me:) I have to be honest though, and say that I will have to redo the 4 stars in either corner if there is enough thread at the end of the rest, as they are two stitches too big...if there is not enough thread, then I may have to use a different thread, but I am hoping I won't have to go there...I will be good though and redo them as then the design will be according to the pattern...lol

Nefertiti is finished! 26/10/10

Yey!
I finished my Nefertiti!!! Amazing:)

She was a lot more fun and took a lot less time than I expected. It took me ages to do Tutankhamun, but then he had a lot more colours and also metallic thread which was a challenge.

I will be finishing off a few Christmas projects, finishing off my multicoloured version of Vicki's calendar partwork (February) which I had to frog quite a few stitches as I miscalculated the center. The good thing is that I made sure Vicki helped me calculate what was wrong before I did any cutting...lol

And of course I will work on finally organising my room...eventually...

Belated update on Nefertiti 201010

So, I have finally remembered to do an update on my Nefertiti. She is coming along a lot quicker than I expected, and I am hoping I will finish her by Sunday evening. I just have to stay away from Facebook as much as possible...lol

Vicki's list

Short term jobs
1. Sort out my filing - several boxes and a collapsing pile on my desk do not constitute a filing system.
2. Do my accounts - I usually file at the last minute, this time I want to get them done earlier.
3. Paper and paint the toilet walls - I'm fed up with bare plaster.
4. Get another design in a magazine - I'm trying to break into the UK magazines and at the same time hopefully get more into the Australian Publication 'Creative Embroidery and Cross Stitch'
5. Tidy my bedroom - This room doesn't get the attention it deserves. 'Public' rooms get all the attention and as it doubles as an office it has suffered, it's time has come!
6. Build a new back gate - It just needs doing.

Medium term jobs
1. Finish the kitchen - I've done a lot of it but have ground to a halt. I need to fit the sink unit, 2 more bits of worktop, build a cupboard round the electricity meter, tile and fit a blind.
2. Finish a DVD project - I am working on a DVD for my business and really must get going on it quickly.
3. Get a book published - This could be a tricky one as getting published is not an easy project but I have to try. I am working on a complete Hardanger course around a perpetual calendar project/ set of 12 designs.

Long term job
Swap my daughter from the small bedroom to the larger spare room. Whilst this doesn't seem like a big task, it really is! The spare room is full of my work supplies and (as we don't have a useable attic) has been used for other storage. I have to pack up the room and move it to storage, repair the plaster, paper and paint, fit units and shelves and build a wardrobe/cupboard into the alcove. I can then move her in but the job doesn't end there. I have to put up shelves in the spare room and build a set of cupboards that are purpose designed to hold my work supplies so that when it is all done I have a useable spare room (her old room) that will be suitable for guests and not a room full of boxes that is impossible to get into.

Ylva's list

Short term goals

1. I want to finish my Heavygoing Grizzly for my nephew - only have the background left to do.

2. I want to do a biscornu as they look so much fun to do.

3. I want to do a little pincushion - embroider a nice pattern and attach to a tiny little pot....

4. I need to finish organising my room - I have sooo much stuff.... cardmaking, stamping, embroidery, sewing, computers, cross stitch.....

5. I want to make a list of all project I want to do - some I have started on and some I am eager to start on.

6. I want to make a patchwork cushion for my mother.

Medium term goals

1. I want to finish the hardanger calendar partwork Vicki has created - It is gorgeous and I cannot wait until I can hang it on the wall.

2. I want to finish my Nefertiti cross stitch picture - I have Tutankhamun already framed on the wall and he is looking a bit lonely.

3. I want to make a patchwork quilt for my bed.

Long term goal

I need to lose weight - I need to lose a lot of weight, but I will put this in stages of 10 kilos......and celebrate massively when I have reached 50 kilos. Anything more than that is a bonus.
